I've been there. I know what it's like to send your script out, only for the feedback to focus on the queerness of the characters, at the expense of any constructive help. You too have probably, at some point, felt nervous sending your script to someone who may not understand your work because they don't identify as lgbtq+. Which leads to you fighting for your story in ways you didn't think you'd have to.


Ever had comments such as

  • Why is this queer character doing [insert specifically queer thing]?
  • Why is this lgbtq+ character happy? There's more drama to be had if they “come out”.
  • Gay men don't act like that. All my gay friends are also drag queens, why isn't he?
  • Why is this woman suddenly a lesbian? No, I've never heard of bisexuality, what's that?


Finding a reader to give script notes, where the subtleties of an lgbtq+ life isn't lost on them, isn't easy. Having to convince readers that what the community DOES NOT actually need, is yet another traumatic coming out story, can be exhausting

Dear lgbtq+ sibling, I got you. I understand that, as queer writers, we often (but not always) want our stories, themes, characters and messages to give insight into life on the lgbtq+ spectrum, but not be focussed on them. I am well versed in pretty much everything lgbtq+, and have a very gay open mind to anything I don't.

    £0.0055 per word (roughly $0.007 although the exchange rate does vary). Subject to a minimum fee of £50.


    Suitable for people who are not queer men, wanting help with their queer male and non-binary characters.


    Feedback will focus on;

    Potentially damaging or problematic characters and/or their actions

    Moments that are unrealistic or dated

  • Mini Sensitivity Read. £50

    I'll look at up to 10,000 words (around 4 chapters), or a specific chapter/s with lgbtq+ characters in.


    Suitable for those who aren't queer men, who want me to look at their queer male and non-binary characters.


    This is not as in-depth a read as a regular read as I'm not looking at the whole story or the queer character's full arc.


    I'll give you feedback on the lgbtq+ character/s in those chapters; how they come across, moments I think you could dig deeper and add more nuance, and any moments that seem inauthentic, cliche, tropey, or otherwise problematic.


    I can do this same day, as it only takes an hour or two. Check availability first though as sometimes I might not be able to get to if for a few days.
