Pride Reads' yearly initiative for writers who identify as lgbtq+, getting read by industry professionals
Step 1
From the choices below, please choose the one that best depicts you as a writer.
This will help the readers work out how much time their notes will take, and thus how much more time they might have for other writers.
Please be honest with your answers. It will help you get the best feedback for you, right now.
Developing your craft is not a quick or simple process.
Tailoring your feedback for where you are as a writer, is going to be really valuable to you moving forward.
Newbie
This is the very first, or second script/novel you've ever written. You've not quite found your voice or fully developed your craft yet, but you're willing to learn.
Blossoming
You've written a few scripts/novels/short stories, have a grasp of the craft, and your voice. You've had some feedback from your peers so you know how to accept feedback, but you need some expert advice.
Maturing
You've got a few strong scripts/novels/short stories under your belt. Perhaps had some success in competitions or meetings (or have self-published). Ready for some good feedback, to level up and start breaking into the industry.
Step 2
From the choices below, please choose which level of feedback you are looking for.
Be aware, you might think you are ready for professional notes, but if you're a newbie, and to some degree, a blossoming writer, Pride Reads wouldn't recommend you choose that level.
You want to be nurtured and remain motivated.
A lower level of feedback might be better for you, so you can nail the basics of your craft and voice first, before picking your script apart.
Gentle
You're looking for the most important things that you need to do to improve your script, novel and/or your craft. Less is more, please don't overwhelm me.
Firm
You're looking for general feedback on everything, so you can make the next draft even stronger. Tell me how it is, but please don't make me cry.
Professional
You're ready to get professional level feedback, harsh as that may be, but you've had feedback before and you're prepared. Please share you wisdom, I promise I can take it.
Step 3
Choose your ideal reader.
Please only choose a reader who is open to reading your genre, format & medium. Let them know you're contacting them about Pride Readers. Tell them a little about your script (Title, genre, format and logline or simple premise), and give them the info from Step 1 and 2.
Please only contact one reader at a time. If your chosen reader isn't available, then contact another. If a reader becomes unavailable, it will say Contact: Unavailable. If you can see their contact details, they are still open for writers.
If you have any isses contacting a reader direct, please contact me (Drew) on readers@pridereads.co.uk and let me know the issue and I'll do my best to help solve the issue.
Allow everyone to have the chance to be read. All our lgbtq+ voices are important, so let's share the love.
